Welcome to the Sweet Dreams, Safe Sleep social media toolkit. This toolkit is designed to provide Baltimore families with baby expert advice, practical tips, and valuable resources provided by B'more For Healthy Babies. Infant sleep-related deaths are one of the leading causes of infant death in Baltimore City, and they are overwhelmingly preventable. Sweet Dreams, Safe Sleep contains messages that will help families keep their babies safe and improve their quality of sleep in the process.

Why to practice safe sleep?

The safest way for a baby to sleep is by following the ABCDs of safe sleep:

  • Alone: Share a room, not a bed, with your baby.

  • Back: Babies are less likely to choke when they sleep on their backs.

  • Crib: Babies should always sleep in a crib that only has a fitted sheet—no toys or blankets.

  • Don’t Smoke: Smoke in the home makes it harder for babies to breathe well—no cigarettes, vapes, or marijuana around baby.

By following safe sleep practices , you are giving your baby the best chance for a safe and restful sleep. If you have questions about your baby’s specific sleep needs, talk to their pediatrician.
